How to Clean Marble Flooring

As marble floor becomes more popular in kitchens and bathrooms, it becomes extremely vulnerable to develop unwanted dirt and grime. There are many techniques to keeping your beautiful tiles the way they should be. The first step to maintain marble floors is very simple, place floor mats at each entrance to keep dirt from even entering any part of your home.

Also another simple way to clean marble is to sweep or vacuum three times a week. Another great way to clean up spills on a marble floor is always use hot water and dry immediately. Immediately drying the marble is one of the most important things a homeowner can do. It is possible that moisture may wear away at the grout and create mold underneath the marble. For tough stains on a marble floor pour a small amount of vinegar into water. This vinegar must be diluted. After you have removed the stain, take a dry clean cloth and wipe down the newly cleaned area. Diluting the vinegar is very important to this cleaning process. Vinegar is very acidic and used in its purest form it may wear away at the marble. If you maintain your marble floors at least 3 days week with a simple sweep the life span of these expensive floors will greatly improve. Also it is also a great idea to refinish your floor with wax, this will give the floor the shine marble flooring deserves.

To prevent your floor from scratches and spills, organize the room properly. The first step is to place furniture on carpets, rugs, or felt pads. In addition to this, it will make furniture easier and safer to move. It is also good to let carpets or rugs to take most of the spills because anything acidic will ruin the marble flooring, even if your floor is waxed.
