How to Clean Chrome

Chrome: The best way to keep chrome fixtures or appliances clean is to maintain them regularly. It is very easy to damage chrome, so it is very important to clean it properly to maintain its shiny appearance.

For chrome objects around the kitchen such as pots and pans, it is recommended that you wash them in warm sudsy water immediately after use. This is a key step because grease builds and may burn the pan the next time you use them. For grease stains try using vinegar that has not been diluted. First take a soft cloth and dip it into the vinegar then carefully wipe the infected area. After you have completed this step, rinse and dry the pot or pan.

For other appliances found in your kitchen such as faucets, microwaves, or any with chrome trim, it recommended to use baby oil. Take a clean soft cloth and apply the baby oil. Then gently rub the stain until it has disappeared. For smaller jobs or areas that are hard to reach simply take a cue tip dip that has been dipped into baby oil. Always apply the oil to the cloth that you are using. This will avoid creating any unwanted messes.

To maintain chrome outside of your home, such as car bumpers, rims, or golf clubs, it is very simple. For car bumpers and golf clubs, it is recommended to use aluminum foil. Gently, using the shiny side of the foil, wipe the infected area. The rust stains should start to fade or disappear completely depending on the severity of the stain. For car rims, you will need a hose, a bucket filled with soapy water, sponge, and wax if you have it. Start by taking your hose and rising off the rims. Following step one, dip your sponge in the soapy water and fiercely scrub the rims, you should start to see the gunk disappear. After you have completed all four wheels, repeat step one by rinsing them off again. Take a dry rag and wipe down our rims. After this step, take car wax and rub them into the rim. This will give your rims protection from water damage.
